Ethereum statistics

Ethereum

Computed by Olenza from Ethereum’s own state, in the background: how ether is spread across accounts, how much the largest accounts hold, what fees cost, and which tokens have the most holders. Each section says the block its numbers are true at. The largest balances themselves are on the rich list.

Dollar values (≈ $) are at the current price, 1 ETH = $2,516 (median of Binance, Kraken, Coinbase and Bitfinex, 13:40 UTC), not the price at the time.

Concentration

As of block 26,135,202 · from a walk of all 422,959,891 accounts, computed 2026-10-06 23:52:59 UTC. Refreshed daily.

Beacon deposit contract (0x00000000…3d7705fa, #1 on the rich list): 91,725,892 ETH ≈ $230,765,704,178 — ether deposited by stakers; it is not withdrawable from this address. WETH (0xc02aaa39…3c756cc2, #2 on the rich list): 2,150,862 ETH ≈ $5,411,178,617 — ether backing wrapped ether held by many addresses. The deposit contract’s balance only ever grows: withdrawals are paid on the consensus layer, not from it, so the same ether is counted again wherever it lands. That is why all balances add up to more than the ether supply, and why the second column, without these two, is the one to read. An account is not a person: an exchange spreads its users’ ether over many accounts, and one person can hold many.

Balance distribution

The balance distribution is counted by the daily walk of every account. The latest finished walk predates it, so the first distribution comes with the next daily walk, which starts 2026-10-08 19:00 UTC and is published when it finishes (~00:00 UTC).

Fees paid: gas used × the price each transaction paid, summed per UTC day from our chain index; today is left out until it ends. Since the London upgrade (August 2021) part of every fee is burned: the block’s base fee × the gas it used, destroyed rather than paid to anyone. The rest, the priority fee, goes to the block’s proposer. Burned plus priority is exactly the fees column. Blob fees (EIP-4844) are burned too but are not part of these fees.
Still being split: our index is splitting older blocks, newest first; 36 of the last 90 days are split so far. A day shows – until every block in it is split, and the totals above count split days only. Last 30 days here; the full history is on the fees, burned and priority fees charts.

A holder is an address with a positive balance. Holder count is not a measure of use: an airdrop sends a token to a million addresses at once, which shows as about one transfer per holder, and such tokens usually have no price. A price means a Uniswap pool with at least 50 ETH of liquidity. “Count may be off”: some balances of that token went below zero in our index, because the contract moves tokens without Transfer events (USDT’s issuance, many airdrop tokens).
